IBM Joins Bank Information Architecture Network

IBM is to join the Bank Information Architecture Network (BIAN) the technology association dedicated to creating a service-oriented architecture standard in the financial industry.

As well as becoming a full member of the BIAN community, IBM's vice president of financial services solutions, Chae An, will take a position on BIAN's board of directors. BIAN other members include ING, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Credit Suisse, Microsoft, Scotiabank, SAP, Callaty & Wouters, Infosys and SunGard.

In 2011, BIAN signed nine new members and launched its "Service Landscape 1.5," a guide on how bank IT departments can use service-oriented architecture to operate more efficiently.
